“Do you think I came to the most unfindable place in the galaxy for no reason at all?”

I really think too many folks watching this thought yes, Luke went there for no reason and would just…. Train her? So bizarre.

The amount of storytelling in the cut between “Where’s Han?” and the close up of Kylo Ren’s mask with Snoke chuckling derisively at him speaks volumes.

Anyone who says it needed to linger longer or be different doesn’t get the economy of visual storytelling.

Rian does so much great visual storytelling, too. The entire bombing sequence, from Paige’s release of the bombs to the close up of Leia’s readout of lost fighters to Leia’s own disappointment, communicating such complicated ideas and emotions silently through cuts and emotions.

I genuinely feel for folks who couldn’t get into The Last Jedi for whatever reason. Not only is it simply great writing and filmmaking, it shows a tremendous understanding of all the Star Wars that came before it and it just cooks…

And no, that doesn't mean "You have to like them!" You most assuredly do not. They are weird. They are getting messier as they go. That is a feature, not a bug. They are pure expressions of Cameron as an artist, though, and that's what I want from him. Let your blue freak flag fly, Jimmy C!

If you're still asking "why is he wasting all these years on these movies," I would suggest that you do not understand who he is or why he makes movies in the first place.
