This is one of the best explanations of tariffs I've seen so far. It mathematically shows "dead weight loss" --a 'cost' to consumers that increases faster than any benefit to producers as tariffs increase.

Tariffs aren't about rejuvenating the American economy for the American worker; they're about taxing the masses (most of whom are poor) so the rich can get a tax break. He's tariffing the top 3 trading partners because that's where the money is. That's it. It isn't any more complicated than that.
