#History The end of #WWII wasn't the end of the war in the Dutch East Indies. The Revolusi Nasional Indonesia had begun. The British would deploy rearmed Japanese against the Indonesian nationalists.
[November 10th, 1945] British and Indian forces shelled Surabaya to suppress Indonesian nationalists, who declared a Holy War. Fighting intensified with Indonesian reinforcements arriving, and reports suggest 20,000 armed Japanese may be aiding rebels.
