Just some dude.
I'm curious - how long has NPR done top games of the year? Or in other words, what year did video games have enough cultural gravitas to get a similar treatment as books and movies?

Your pixel art is great! Unified style definitely matters :)

I genuinely have to call ahead to confirm, "No, I'm serious, please ensure there's an ADA room as per the reservation."

Let alone scrutinizing what they think makes a room ADA.

I actually thought this was just my imagination. "Oh, I guess nothing came today, but I swear I had something that was supposed to come..."

Snowcrash is a dystopian future novel (and, in my opinion, not a very good one) that was so influential on Zuckerberg that it was required reading at Meta... which featured prominently in Snowcrash.

As far as taxes go, of course I'd be willing to pay such a moderate amount - this is far less than what I pay already.

Everyone should mentally add what they pay for insurance to their taxes. It gives a much more apples-to-apples comparison to countries with universal healthcare.

I still have my old decks. I tried playing them once recently, and they did not do well 🫠

Oh, yeah - fair. I think for Indies it just falls under thresholds "I'm willing to pay $5 for this," or "I'm willing to pay $10 for this." But I'm no expert. Maybe I'll have more skin in the game myself in a year!

The percentage may not matter, rather the ending amount. I myself, and many of my friends, put a dollar amount on what I'm willing to pay for a game. If 20% doesn't get us there, well, it's not like we all don't have a backlog to work through.

What do these people do for a living that they can afford that while not really seeming to have matured past high school?

I think this wasn't just HL2, but when they forced people to move HL1 mods over to Steam servers. (And what a mod scene there was back then!)

It took me a little longer to get there (probably closer to 25), but similarly liberating.

If you had asked me to guess a price for a can of paint, I would have said $20 - $30.

This 100% is going to be a headline from the week on Wait Wait, Don't Tell Me.

I don't know about itchy or smoldering, but I've definitely come to realize that I get into a funk if I don't work on learning something. Projects help a lot!

I think it's the idea of "You are your truest self when you think nobody is looking." And people interacting with LLMs, presumably, think nobody is looking.
