Just a board game and music composer hobbyist who likes ranting his honest opinions like an old man.
Saying that, I think I might put this game away for maybe a month or so before I have another go. I am definitely interested in the expansion and will most likely get it sometime next month as well :)

Barely won with the AUTOMA 93 and I was 93, but the rulebook says I win if there's a tie :)

So I finally got to play the game solo a couple of times and I got to say, unless a friend wants to play it, this is my preference. I LOVE LOVE how EASY the automata is to manage in this game (this is the standard of how a SOLO should be). As a solo, it has definitely gone up a point for me. 8/10

My main complain is the rulebook was a bit complex to understand especially the placement rules and I wish, it had more what not to do examples but the game makes it obvious when something doesn't feel right. However, I have to deduct it a point for that because it was a BIG issue for us.

Just give the players the tool to make great comebacks rather than trying to fix bad turns and overbaking the game in the process.

Mtg and tcg games in general have bad turns 50 percent or so of the time even with optimal play. Without some bad turns payoffs the most important part of any GREAT board game wouldn't exist.

I haven't played VG in quite a while I wouldn't be surprised if I was old man these days lol Saying that I did play a little bit of league of legends maybe 6 months ago (after not playing it for like 4 years or something) and actually was surprised how much I was able to still go at it.

I mean we play board games to relax, enjoy and talk so...lol

Nice! This kind of feels like a mix of the wonders (with a hint of agora expansion) that the base was missing. If this does well I'm hoping either for more cards or another modular expansion.

A lot of times people want complicated answers on things that really need a simple answer (at least from my experience).

Also, a bit pissed the game didn't come with two set of stickers as I got confused putting the resource stickers on the train and peeling it off ruined the stickers. I was expecting a second set and there wasn't. Not the end of the world but very disappointed none the less.

If you have splendor and you don't care having an even more accessible version, there's no point getting this. Also, all 3 games we played was largely the same (not a criticism, splendor was the same) but the modular map does add a bit of replayability.

If you have kids that found splendor complex, get this. Yes, it's slightly easier, but the game still FEELS and is THINKY like splendor. The variant adds a bit of surprise to make it a bit meatier for gamers.

I really envy you for being to have this skill.

Another factor to consider: despite look very cozy, the scoring IMO is very confusing and fiddly and would not recommend this game if your new to gaming (have a friend teach this to you). EVERY TIME scoring came, my other friend is always confused on how it works and I don't blame him.

Forgot to mention the conservation tokens adds setup time. Having to neatly stack all 4 together while it looks neat, was very annoying to setup and would have just preferred an icon token symbol. Some people might not find it annoying but I did.

Lastly, I like the descending order changes instead of being a strict 1-2-3-4 but it does lose some of the tightness that I'm thinking of house ruling getting a 3 synergy token bonus if someone does a successful 1-2-3-4 combo like the first edition rules.

Despite the more freeing nature, I would NOT play this game with AP prone people especially in a 3-4 player game as there's not much happening in between turns. This is a WONDERFUL solo game (maybe an 8.5) and wouldn't play it more than 2-3 with some caveats.
