Just a board game and music composer hobbyist who likes ranting his honest opinions like an old man.
Played WINGSPAN many moons ago and thought it was fine. This is definitely much better but I still feel its a little bit overbaked. IMO, the round objectives are meh, wish guilds had a bit more going and the game is a round too long IMO. However, I wouldn't mind playing this game now 7/10

If you like scrabble but don't like the vocab aspect, get this. If dominos, mah-jong and scrabble had a baby this is what you get. Never played the original but it is essentially the same game but the white/black diagonal scoring adds more flexibility yet decision complex 8/10.

Finally got to play as 3P for the first time. Never played the second edition either. The bidding system is brilliant but I somehow expected a more epic game in my head for a game that is surprisingly tame in comparison to my other area control games. I like and want to play more 7-7.510.

SOLO first impressions (two plays): really enjoyable. The AI is pretty easy to manage and breezy for the most part. It feels like Istanbul (but lighter) with a set collection aspect + engine building of century/splendor. A great game to introduce first before Istanbul IMO. 7-7.5/10.

A very nice gateway to Splendor (feels weird saying that). If I had non-gamer friends with low rules tolerance, I would introduce this first, play a few games then introduce splendor. A game I'll play a few times and forget for a while but would play again. 7.5-8/10.

The expansion adds a welcome change that makes it a bit more freeing however with some caveats. If you thought the original was 'almost there' give this one a shot. If you didn't like the original at all, or/and don't like solitaire puzzles avoid this 8/10.

@level99games.com This is definitely my underrated game of the year. This is how you do asymmetrical powers without feeling overwhelming. My gripes are mostly small production issues and filling the meeples after devouring is fiddly for me so I've house ruled it. 8.5/10

I personally think SPOOKTACULAR (LVL 99) is my underrated GEM this year. Still need to play it a few times with some friends to solidify my opinion. Even with the 80 AUS price I paid, every penny was worth it. The sheer amount with the component space is INSANE, expected nothing less.

Nice to catch up with some Japanese friends (and friends in general of course) and be able to understand 80-90% of the conversation without having to focus too much. Really solidifies my progress 5 years ago.

Bought SPLENDOR KIDS! Excited to try this out with my niece, hopefully it will be a hit or at the very least it will be somewhat a 7 WONDERS ARCHITECTS to 7 WONDERS.

I'm not a game designer at all, but it always baffles me when designers add more rules instead of finding ways to take off those rules while hitting two birds with one stone. I have a friend who released his game recently and saw some of the reviews and there's too many little rules complain.

So I finally got to play Pokemon: Master Trainer and despite feeling VERY outdated I can see if a publisher like Restoration Games worked on it could be a very lucrative game. I doubt it though since the Pokemon license would cost WAY TOO MUCH but one man can dream.

NEKOJIMA: I haven't played a lot of dexterity stacking games except for Jenga so take my word with a grain of salt. This game replaces Jenga for me however it is a game I would play only once in a while. The picture should tell you if this game is for you or not.. 8/10.

It's been ages since I played this underrated gem. Feels like an opportunistic Stefan Feld game with the usual duo fare. My only complain is it probably slightly overstays its welcome, but counteracts end game scoring being breezy. The theme did not unfortunately attract my friend lol 8.5/10.

Finally did some recording with a friend. It's a good finally when a song that's been rent free in your head for over a year finally becomes reality - though there is still a bit of work to do. However, it's nice that the skeleton is more or less finished and how surprisingly accurate I was.

Finally played some ALTERED TCG (bought as second hand set + trial by frost booster pack) and have really enjoyed the starter decks. It has been a while since I played it and I wish the rulebook was a bit better in explaining and being more specific. Other than that, hoping to play more.

Played some GANGS OF KYOTO (Rüdiger Dorn) as a 2P a couple of times. I can't give it a rating yet as I think it'd be better with more players (probably 5-6). But if you liked FLIP 7, most likely you will like this game as well.
September 13, 2025 at 1:43 PM
Played some TIMEBOMB (still a classic - recommended if you like WW but with a bit of leeway), KOT (still a CLASSIC) and FLIP 7 (recommend have a scoring app to speed scoring up) with NON-BOARD GAMERS. TIMEBOMB was #1, followed by KOT #2 and finally FLIP 7. All 3 games should be in your collection.

Unmatched the board game feels like a really nice EXCEED light . Originally wasn't planning to get into it, but the CO-OP expansion and better accessibility changed my mind. Always a good time, even if the choices aren't the deepest. 8/10

Got to play some ANKH: Gods of Egypt today which I hadn't done for almost 2 years now. Still a really solid game and I dare say it's a better game than BLOOD RAGE (though I still enjoy BR). While I wish the MERGE mechanic was more epic. Happy to play this game anytime.

I'm not familiar with the source material at all. But I can FEEL the love and thought HIDEKI ANNO put in this movie and you can tell he is a TRUE FAN of the source material. IMO this is how you do a remake because it feels nostalgic but has enough nuances to feel ANNO-like. Watching it again 9/10

This show is an absolute mess. Inconsistent pacing, full of plot holes and a director who thinks adding a homage here and there makes this kamen rider black but completely misses the point why this show is special. When your main character is a side character you done fucked it up. 3/10

Played some Death May Die and Guilty gear exceed with a friend and was just reminded how great these games were once again

Get bit is such a charming game that I dismissed early in my hobby journey due to thinking it was too simple. But the amount of smiles and laughter this game brings if you come along the ride is great. Hilarious that the AI won in our game 8/10
