There is something to be said about how white/western folks consume media outside of North America or media by people of colour that they reduce even the most violent/prolific works as “cozy” or “soft” or “uwu”.

Degrading, but also missing major media literacy about what the works entail at all.

Hate hate hate the reduction of Ghibli's output into a vague aesthetic. Even before generative AI, people would talk about "cozy Ghibli vibes" stripped of all context, and now we're seeing where that gets us.
