Could be an effort to not become a target, like people did in Ballymena.

There's a Viz joke about this, but you're probably right.

It's even worse for non-Americans. The fields for our version of football aren't even a standardised size.

Very close to reaching zero fossil fuels on the UK electric grid soon. Solar will be coming up fast over the next hour, so we could hit it soon if it stays windy.

Parolin really rocketed following the white smoke, didn't he? Could be people reasoning from a relatively quick decision to the previous favourite, but alternatively someone could be being naughty.

This week in #chartcrimes : this FT chart. Logging GDP is often sensible, as is benchmarking it to another country's, but doing both seems misleading - the gaps at the end are actually massive (30% vs 63% vs 80%)

It also has an unusable x-axis, where the year labels refer only to the China series.

Love how the eclipse today is visible in the national grid data.

You may want to read up on China's actual policies towards South America.

The vehicle involved can't be ignored, and should be within the scope of any investigation.

The fact it was specifically designed to mount kerbs at speed, for reasons which basically amount to marketing, is difficult to ignore.

Is it just me, or does it look a bit like the Grand Mosque in Mecca?

Richard took a real beating from the early 80s onwards. In the US data, it's clearly linked to Nixon and Watergate. Not sure what accounts for the UK decline.

Anyway, it means my namesakes tend to be old men.

The original station building is great and I will die on this hill. Simplicity in design which is saved from minimalism with excellent detailing and softened by wood and marble.

Also, in the presence of market power price caps can expand output. That is econ 101 level stuff!

Bluesky's threading of your replies became quite alarming when I reached this point and assumed they all followed from the top one.

Speaking of the hostel, I don't think they realised how the cute neon signs would come across.

Utrecht is super-pretty, and the cycling infrastructure makes Amsterdam look like Atlanta.

Sadly, I only got to have a quick look around, followed by a massive sleep, due to an unfortunate incident following a €4 payment on a "Culture Boat". Still, I made it back to the hostel in the end.
