You might be shocked at how much support the right in general (and some of MAGA) has for public lands. Also, don't underestimate the lobbying power of ranchers running their cows on public land.
I'm not trying to be Pollyanna this threat, but support for public land is fairly bi-partisan.

Trump has threatened tariffs on many countries for a lot of reasons. Today he said he’d “tariff Denmark at a very high level” if it refused to cede Greenland to the US. That would drive up prices for American consumers on products ranging from hearing aids and Legos to popular drugs like Ozempic.
