If you're okay with the Dems caving because you don't receive ACA subsidies, you don't understand healthcare economics.

This. Every case they take is designed to further the power of the president and create white Christo-nationalist state.
As a lawyer, I’m begging all the court watchers out there to stop being such lawyers about it. They are nakedly political. Their reasoning, when they deign to write any, is lipstick on a pig. The people need to understand that. Tell them plainly.

This. The Supreme Court is unilaterally rewriting the Constitution in a genuinely unprecedented way to the detriment of democracy and the balance of power.
Not only is this foreign aid stay an assault on the separation of powers and rule of law, it’s also an assault on Congress as an institution. If Congress can’t tell the executive to spend money, what can it *actually* do?

If I have any credibility with you from 20 years of reporting on rightwing & fascist movements, please listen when I beg you not to celebrate Charlie Kirk getting shot. Leave aside morality: this isn’t a match in dry grass, it’s a torch. We do not want what this could ignite & we would not win.

Having a really hard time reconciling my anger at the administration, which seems to be shared by most of this website, with what Dems are doing in DC. I don't want them to cut a deal at all. Is this website a bubble or are DC Dems just completely missing the plot?

This. All of this.
This formulation is popular: contrasting SCOTUS' intolerance of race as an admissions factor with SCOTUS' tolerance of race as a detention factor. There are, in fact, doctrinal, historical, and logical distinctions between the positions, that one could use to dismiss this comparison.

But...
/1
"Harvard can't use race as a factor in admissions, but ICE can use race as a factor in detentions" is a retrenchment essentially to a pre-Civil War understanding of the Constitution. It's vanishingly few steps removed from "Latinos have no rights which the white man is bound to respect."

This. @mehdirhasan.bsky.social is 100% correct. We need leaders for the moment, and these two are not it.

Fascists use violence while claiming to be victims. They create chaos that "requires" their authoritarian solution. Then they purge anyone who opposes them. Meanwhile, democrats. . . file lawsuits. They write editorials. They vote on resolutions. And fascists just laugh and keep consolidating power.
I researched every attempt to stop fascism in history. The success rate is 0%.
Once they win elections, it's already too late.

Hear me out: AMD and Nvidia move their corporate headquarters to the Netherlands. Either US lets chips in tariff free or it falls behind in AI, AMD and Nvidia get to keep all their revenue without paying a bribe to the US.

Many countries don't allow dual citizenship; this would leave people stateless.
The White House has ordered the US Dept. of Justice to prioritize denaturalization: voiding the citizenship of US citizens.

Who will it denaturalize? "Any" case that it "determines to be sufficiently important".

Point 10 leaves the criteria opaque and arbitrary.
