It’s a real problem. When traveling internationally as an American these days you must anticipate safety threats and always be aware of your environment.

I fear the goal is a society where women are honored only for their role as mothers in support of the state.
In Germany it took 4 kids to be honored. Stalin was more demanding and 7 earned the Order of Maternal Glory.

Here’s Lazard’s recent estimates but this “firming” is really just accommodating diurnal variation. It does not include the cost of seasonal variations. Lots of work happening on storage to improve this though.

You can’t directly control demand for fossil fuels. People will not tolerate energy shortages. You must focus on deployment of non-fossil sources. Those industries continue to ramp.
As of 2024 we’ve now topped 2TW of solar. But it’s the trend that matters.

I can’t talk to other tech but what’s happening in enhanced geothermal is pretty “spectacular” in terms of rapidly increasing productivity.

The state offers insurance of a last resort under the FAIR program. It’s ballooned in the last few years as insurers appreciate more risk and back out of the market. Recent regulatory changes are designed to encourage insurers to underwrite again.
