I truly struggle to understand the conservative moral code. They will excuse anything, and then suddenly get hung up on some violation or failure. When does this happen? I can't predict. What changed? I have no idea.

They're not saying it's inherently immoral. They're saying it's training that runs counter to the idea sticking to a viewpoint and never deviating.

The people pointing out this is yet another example of Republicans only taking bigotry seriously when it affects them directly are right—but this state senator is still showing more spine and self-respect than most Republicans these days. It’s an extremely low bar but also, this is a good sign.
