I’ve been practicing making crochet bags for a couple years, and they are starting to come out ok (need more experience adding lining). Decided to give this one a try!

A crochet motif with a daisy flower in the center surrounded by tall stitches which create the overall square shape, surrounded by the tools used to create it (scissors, yarn, and hook). An unfinished daisy center also sits on top of the finished square.

I forgot to share this, but I had to take time off drawing and got really in to my crochet scarf afterwards. I introduced a 6B(?) graphite stick to the mix. Might work on this later…
Continuation of the portrait of a dark-skinned woman viewed slightly from below. Dark shadows from the top of the page conceal her eyes, with her nose and full lips visible. The shadows fall in a gradient towards the bottom of the page, leading to a group of sketched flowers growing upwards.

Experiment with flat colors. I’ve been focusing on the very basic elements of art, particularly line and shape, for a year now and it’s been much more fun than pumping out paintings. I’m trying lots of things, which is why my account is inconsistent (I am so sorry).

Old art lalalala
My digital painting days are over, but I still like to make black and white art drawings. Less strain on my brain and hands. Besides linear perspective, using value and color together is my biggest weakness. Adding color to grayscale only ads confusion.

My mental illness makes keeping a sleep schedule impossible. I suffer from hypersomnia mostly with insomnia sprinkled in (due to anxiety). My relationship with sleep is very sorrowful. I drew this when I was still very brain fogged due to my (ongoing) recovery from 5 months of insomnia. #art

So I spent two days measuring and cutting fabric (ugh) to try quilting and booooy did I hate it. I thought it would be meditative but it requires too much precision and focus (I knew better).

Back to just stitching scraps together, which I enjoy very much.

Old watercolor pencil sketch that I still like. I did floral/botanical art for a while but forced myself to move on to other subjects. I put imaginary parameters around my art practice, and maybe that’s why I’m struggling now (besides the world being awful right now).

A crochet motif made from Hobbii Rainbow Cotton, in three shades of pink and a yellow. I like that the pinks add harmony in a large shape but are different enough to avoid monotony.

Monday WIP and morning sketch.

I found some videos about making stitched scrolls and decided to give it a try with some scraps. I will slowly sew them together.

Ok, angry art tax but you get this old drawing of mine today because it’s hilarious.
