One flight, One seat, One Ton of CO2. Flying fries the planet and pollutes the air, and yet there are about 125,000 daily commercial flights in the world and growing. Pledge to fly less in 2025 for the climate and community! www.flightfree.org

This is of course heading in the opposite direction of what a habitable planet requires, which is that we all fly on jets a whole lot less frequently.

Considering the role of aviation in the climate crisis, especially from frequent flyers, it might feel like pretty fair 'karma' from the planet? I don't wish anyone injuries but I do wish for much less flying!
What do you think @flightfreeuk.bsky.social and @flightfreeusa.bsky.social?
Here's a little something to look forward to courtesy of fossil fuels & climate change.

🚨 Private jets = pinnacle of climate injustice

In 2023, they caused more emissions than all flights from Heathrow. And the US has particularly dirty hands: Florida & Texas alone outpolluted the entire EU 💀

We need to #BanPrivateJets now. Taxing them is the bare minimum.
☁️🛩️☁️The ICCT has developed the first global mapping of private jet air and climate pollution.

The data reveal that private jets emitted more greenhouse gases than from all flights departing London Heathrow Airport in 2023.

How about instead of 'dimming the sun' we all chip in to ✨drastically reduce our carbon emissions✨?

Cutting out flying makes a massive dent - so why not start there?

And we're here to help! Visit flightfree.co.uk for tips on how to quit flying but not quit travelling 💚🌎

Why quit flying? We do it for justice.

We should not wait until the climate crisis feels 'closer to home' in order to make lifestyle changes. People's lives are devastated NOW because of our high-carbon lifestyles.

We don't need to journey into space to know that global warming is REAL.

But 50 years on from 'Blue Marble', this is it's effects:
The Antarctic ice sheet is shrinking.
The Sahara is growing.
The rainforest is retreating south.
And deforestation is immense.

We must act - go #FlightFree today

Cheap flights encourage 'unthinking' tourism: in-and-out travel that damages the environment and harms communities.

Monuments crumble from the constant passage of hands and feet, places are left strewn with rubbish, and residents are forced out in favour of tourists.

Is this really what we want?
What about tourism?
We know that air travel facilitates global tourism, and if we were to stop flying, communities who rely on our visits would suffer. But is that the full story?
