An alternate charitable reading: they were possibly included for "exploratory purposes", to show an eventual picture of what SB 79 could look like in the city in final implementation.

Of course, if that's true, it's still irresponsible to put out a map where they look just as final as existing stns

@metrolosangeles.bsky.social how does this happen
September 16, 2025 at 4:45 AM
@metrolosangeles.bsky.social a question because I'm bored. Would it be possible to run 3-car service on the C/K Lines and only open the middle 8 doors at the 2-car stations (Imperial, Mariposa, Douglas, Redondo)? Similar to how only some doors open at Long Beach? Please excuse my low quality sketch.

July report seems to still believe in it, fwiw
September 3, 2025 at 7:20 PM
I could have this wrong! I think the problem there would be that planned stops do count as 21155 Major Transit Stops, but I wouldn't think the present-tense operator "served by" could apply to future service, and I don't remember anything in the bill explicitly including them otherwise
August 25, 2025 at 9:25 PM
Given this paragraph in the Senate Local Government analysis of the bill, I would hope that an amendment like this to better clarify would be a slam dunk. Although I'm not sure anything in the state actually meets all of 21060.2(a)? G Line probably does and definitely will soon (TSP ambiguity)

Here we go. The remaining cities that have even just a corner within 1/2 a mile of an existing metro rail or busway station. Haven't checked Metrolink (but I do have the station eligibility list hidden away somewhere in my notes too.) Restated Vernon due to my completionist instincts.

A2. Also on the farecap note, it's extra interesting that they wouldn't focus in on the fact that implementing farecapping was effectively a fare decrease accoss the board? It represented a 20-30% drop in fares for passbuyers, and even more for frequent riders who didn't plan enough to buy passes.

A1. I want to come back around and focus on the seeming assumption in this report that the fare caps would stay the same under an increase of the one-way fare. I would guess that most Metro riders (with tap cards) are capping out most weeks (currently takes around 10 rides).

3. A heavy fare enforcement system through administrative citations runs into a major unaddressed issue - I would expect that a lot of the people this proposal hopes to remove from the system wouldn't be carrying identification. Your options are, best I can tell, to let them go or arrest them.
July 9, 2025 at 3:25 AM
2. This statement really misses the mark for me - it feels like nobody involved in writing this has ever had to sign up for LIFE. It's not the easiest to navigate (losing a tap card requires a hassly phone call, for example, and loading your 20 rides/month is far from perfect) -
July 9, 2025 at 3:25 AM
1. just sort of a major mistake here that indicates a sort of certain-part-of-town bias: the G Line is currently not capable of proof-of-payment enforcement while Van Nuys station is under construction til ~'27 and with all-door boarding not active.

Thanks, good to know - was still curious about whether we'll still see 10 minutes on both lines before D1 opens, as some previous plans had shown (incl. FY25 budget), or if that part's been scrapped now
July 9, 2025 at 12:50 AM
@metrolosangeles.bsky.social have been thinking about this recently. i know the 10 min service got delayed - i think due to HR4000s taking a while to arrive? and was wondering if 10/10 service is in the plans once the D Line reopens. seems there'd be enough 4000s now?
