it is true that higher ed let AI use go unchecked for too long but i Do Not think it is true that we just have to acquiesce to it now that it has been adopted en masse by students - as with most things in higher ed there is no solidarity between departments to effectively curb its usage

i've never worked on a project where i needed to interview someone - do i have to get IRB approval to talk to someone about a historical event they were involved in that will then likely be quoted in an article i'm writing?

What people really don’t want to hear is that shaming people who brag about writing emails with AI would be just fine. Admirable in fact. Norms can sometimes do what law won’t.
