Wonky brain chemistry. And it's transient. And friends will remind you when you need reminding. *hug!*

Hang in there. It gets better.

Sincerely,

Thanks! It's generally fun, but not without a lot of stress given the stakes and expectations at times. :)

Nothing a little G40/41/42 can't fix between friends! 😆

These days I mainly do special effects engineering for theme park applications, shows, and rides. The fun part there is the work gets seen by millions of people every year, though no one knows there's a big stupid deer banging the keyboard behind all of it and it somehow all just works. XD

I worked with the companies that would be contracted to do lasers/lighting for these shows. My hardware/software was on a lot tours including Paul McCartney, Guns N Roses, Lady A, Excision, Lady Gaga, Fall Out Boy, countless music festivals, and a whole bunch of other artists I've forgotten. 😇

Sadly, there was still some backlash, too.

This software went on to run lasers at many AC/MFF's, and was eventually commercialized in an alternate version and went on to run lasers on some of the largest music tours for years - thousands of shows, hundreds of lasers, and as far as we're aware never crashed ONCE in all of that time. :)

Thanks! I was very proud to be writing real-time, nodal based audio imagery synthesis code in C++ back in 2005 when the best we had was a Core2Duo processor! We had to write our own OpenGL GUI framework, too, because nothing would do what we needed it to, especially for "dark mode" applications.

Python absolutely has its place for sure, just not for me specifically. Execution speed on Python is generally many thousands of time slower than compiled C/C++ which, again, for some applications doesn't matter. But the stuff I primarily do is all real-time low latency where microseconds matter. :)

That being said, for people who need mainly surface-level solutions that don't require speed or heavy optimization or deep-level access Python is an excellent choice for solving a lot of problems and easier learning. If it gets the job done then it's an acceptable solution for your problem. <3

There's a multitude of deeper, practical reasons for my disdain, but this is just my opinion. Python is used to help teach a lot of CompSci but a LOT of deeper concepts important to understanding how computers work is glossed over so heavily it is completely lost on the people who NEED TO LEARN IT.
