I’m Pete. I fix and mod consoles for fun. In my daily life, I’m a commercial and film editor living in LA. I’m only here for nerdy content! Cheers!

@misirajeduart.bsky.social so, I noticed a bent pin on Saturn adapter under microscope. Tried to bend back & snapped. Retested both cables carefully now fine on Genesis 🤣

Do you sell Saturn svideo or scart? I don’t want to lose the blending fx in games with transparencies so I think svideo is best?

@analogue.bsky.social are you guys selling the funtastic color shells for the 3D for those of us who have one already? I would have loved to have gotten a color shell when I preordered a year ago.

@misirajeduart.bsky.social I haven’t heard from HDretrovision yet so I figured you might have a thought. I got a component cable from them for my Saturn. Didn’t work. Saturn is recapped and works great. New din too! So I used component cables that 100% worked on my genesis 1 and tested them (cont)

Well that’s fun. Old Roku barely able to navigate the UI but it outputs composite. Those videos look good! I think LTT shoots in 6k?

Anyone have ideas why a new #hdretrovision component cable is not working with my Saturn? I just get a black video screen. recapped the Saturn and it works perfectly with cheap svideo cables.

@retrotink.com is the hd15 adapter for the Saturn give me svideo? Im guessing this cable is a great way to enable enhanced svideo for it!

I’m also loving the @collingall.bsky.social #laserbear replacement wireless dongle for #Gamecube. Worked flawlessly!

Added a matrixed Dell 1704FPTT (lovely lcd got 23 years ago lol) and a street found Panasonic 10” crt I fixed up. Next up is getting a signal from Retrotink4k sent here & then splitters to be able to record HDMI footage while also sending signals to these two and my LGC3. Exciting!

@timeextension.com you all ever consider making a print mag? If so how much would that cost us to subscribe for a monthly, to make it worth it for you these days? I’m very curious!

So the same repair shop I got all those consoles from yesterday, my buddy there said he got this great pc for $90 at a swap and it has $500 in parts, but stopped working. I got it booted and he gave me this original Xbox bag for free! And it has the manual in it! Taking it to the cleaners now.

Sweet haul of projects / parts consoles for $100 bucks! Half of them turn on.

Annnnnd this is why I’m excited to own this system! N64 games looking and playing the way they are meant to but with better fps.

@retrotink.com so I have a tink4k hooked up to a 4k lgc3. However, I am setting up a 4x3 lcd and a crt on my modding bench for testing etc. Do you have any plans on possibly creating a splitter device that could take the signal from the 4k and then turn it to composite, svideo, or vga? Continued….

I found this cute 10.5 inch Panasonic outside, filled with a horrible disgusting roach mess. Full soaks in vinegar to neutralize, multiple IPA baths, reflow and repair solder, remask traces, resolder add-in board, adjust color and geometry pots, it works great aside from two buttons and a speaker!

@scottjohnson.zip hey Scott, just a heads up, the patreon frogpants rss feed seems glitched out? I added it to my podcast app and it says the latest episodes is from 2023

Whoa.

That's a sprite, an elusive, high-altitude electrical discharge from a thundercloud photographed by NASA astronaut Nichole Ayers from the ISS earlier today.

With reported sightings going back more than a century, this phenomenon was first photographed in 1989.

This game is hilarious and kinda sexy at times haha. It was even QUITE creepy earlier during the cutscene with evil links and the creepy floating upside down Zelda’s.

@retrotink.com I’ve got my ps3 hooked up to my retrotink through a good hdcp stripper and then in an hdmi switcher that retrorgb recommends. My ps3 is set to rgb full in the system settings and the tink is set to receive full as well. On the stats page it still reads limited. Any thoughts?

What a find! The beautiful
And badass single disc cd player from NAD Electronics, model 5325, made in Japan 1989. $55 bucks in a thrift store. Tested it inside the store with a random disc and it works. Will this sound better than my ps1? Let’s see!

Blast Wind is badass!! Played on original hardware through the @retrotink.com 4k on LGc3 through very crappy composite cables (for now). Full Saturn “pro” video coming soon I swear. I just keep adding stuff to the video! It’s a feature film now lol.

@tinari.bsky.social you’re a king for helping @shankmods.bsky.social rescue gorgeous behemoth crt! Also congrats on directing and releasing #bayonettaorigins ! I’ll def be picking that up :)

Anyone have a recommendation for an #ultrasoniccleaner for crt and console boards? Something that is sub $500 if possible.
