Yea I dunno! I’m curious what @retrotink.com thinks, does the tink4k take svideo over the scart port?
December 11, 2025 at 12:53 AM
We are talking about connecting to a retrotink4k though in this case

I don’t even understand what the game is. Too fast! Is it on rails?

Is it possible to switch between an svideo and rgb signal on the scart cable? That way I can preserve those checkerboard transparencies on games that utilize it like burning rangers and virtual-on etc

Like on burning rangers

Oh for sure rgb is better, albeit very slightly at least on n64 with the enhanced svideo mode on retrotink4k. Mostly I’m concerned with presenting the art as designed in Saturn games, mainly the way they blended textures with dithering to create alphas, which is lost over rgb / component afaik…

Gotcha! I’m not very familiar with scart, that would be rgb from the Saturn? Or is it svideo over scart? (If that’s even a thing lol) The enhanced svideo is incredible on the tink4k but I have to use the rear db15 port adapter to enable that.

I wonder if you could integrate the gba player into that first black piece?
December 9, 2025 at 4:32 AM
That’s what I get for preordering mine a year early lol. Big question is, will they sell the shell by itself?
December 8, 2025 at 5:22 PM
Damn them some crispy ass pixels!
December 7, 2025 at 9:10 AM
Nice! I’m the same way. I ended up using a clamp I use with camera gear to grip the zooming pillar.
December 7, 2025 at 7:56 AM
No prob! Thanks for pic. They do internal rgb to comp. I’m curious to see what they say when the respond to my support email. I’m assuming my issue is a big outlier as I would imagine they would build in circuit protection of some kind, that I blew past. www.kickstarter.com/projects/hdr...
December 7, 2025 at 7:54 AM
Nice! I did something similar but it’s very mcguyvered lol. Did you do the 3d print mount?
December 6, 2025 at 9:49 PM
And my other worry about trying a rgb scary cable is frying that one too somehow…just don’t know 100% what to look for when I open the Saturn up.
December 6, 2025 at 9:48 PM
For what it’s worth, I checked compatibility well before I bought the cables for all my systems :)
December 6, 2025 at 9:47 PM
I want to bring this issue to light so other people don’t throw $120 down the drain, you know? If you watch the video you’ll see the timing go nuts at the end, which makes Me think the transcoded pcb in the cables housing is fried. So I’m gonna check my Saturn din for shorts and that 5v resistor.
December 6, 2025 at 9:47 PM
Yea it’s compatible. The TLDR is that the component cables that DID work on the genesis 1 before, now don’t on the Genesis after I plugged them into the Saturn (using HDR adapters). HDR does mention a 5v resistor on their troubleshooting page, but I’m concerned I fried two sets of cables somehow and
December 6, 2025 at 9:47 PM
I’m worried that somehow I bricked 2 component cables as these have transcoders for rgb to component in them. The Saturn works fine with svideo but I know the component cables use more pins. I’ve included a video.

on Saturn (with the correct adapters from hd retrovision). Those working ones gave a black screen on Saturn. I checked retrotink4k stats page and the resolution was going crazy, like it couldn’t lock on. (Cont)

Thank you!
