Of course Portland could bring it. We were somewhere in the middle of the length and as we were crossing the Hawthorne bridge, we could still see people coming under the bridge on the route and over to the Morrison Bridge, which was full, too! #nokings

Spending the week at Olympic National Park seemed like walking around a Miyazaki movie set. Like we’d stumble upon Princess Mononoke, the Great God of the Forest, or Totoro at any moment. (It also was a respite from the outside world as there was no cell or WiFi at all)

In @pjrobichaud.bsky.social ‘s great book Pan: The Great God’s Mighty Return, this line on pastoral poetry leapt out at me because this seems to be the same technique used today when describing “America’s heartland” or “real America”

Violets are one on my favorite flowers. They’re used in herbalism for their healing properties, believed to help with emotional healing, calm the nervous system, and ease anxiety or depression. *looks around at everything* Help me violets! You’re my only hope!
