This is exactly what I'll be facing at retirement. Did a 2nd degree in my 40's and accumulated a big loan due to mental health issues. My income is 33k gross a year and part is benefit. I'm paying 20% tax, ACC levies, insurance, student loans, rent, long term medical costs etc.

I had an argument with someone on FB who refused to believe that a lot of homeless people in the city have drug, alcohol and MH problems. I guess they're trying to sweep the ugly truth under the carpet.

I had to invoke POA on Mum in 2018, was needed. Watching the decline and eventual death was brutal. I hear you.
$$ stress due to fluctuations in work. I hear you.
Definitely have ADHD but can't get a diagnosis plus medication clash.
If you need to bend my ear on your Dad, im happy to listen.
