It’s time to chainsaw the Brexit red tape and end the cost of living crisis. Labour MPs should back our plan for a new customs union.

I'm calling it out. Government funded childcare was not about helping parents into work. It's about getting more children into nursery so they can spread their bugs around.

The outcome of a nefarious campaign by Big Lemsip!

@jeremyhuntmp.bsky.social care to comment?

The far-right is coming for everything - the BBC is just tip of the iceberg. Give it power and it will take control of the courts, the Electoral Commission, the universities, the school curriculum and all other organs of civic power. The aim is very simple: never losing power again.

Calling it now (maybe it's been said by someone else but I haven't seen it) - Digital ID will be used as part of a platform to rejoin the EU single market in the next Labour manifesto. I.e. make non-EU immigration harder, return to reciprocal FoM but enforce the 3 month rule for EU arrivals.

I have raised £26bn in tax by:
▫️ increasing income tax basic rate to 24%
▫️ reducing NICs basic rate to 4%
▫️ charging NICs at the same rate on private pensions
▫️ charging NICs on older workers
▫️ applying CGT at death

I may be ~£10-20bn short of what the chancellor needs..

People who have come to the United Kingdom legally, played by the rules and made it their home do not need to “go home”. This is their home.

I've written to Kemi Badenoch to give her the chance to reject these divisive calls from her frontbencher Katie Lam.

Less than 100 club appearances in total when he first came to us on loan aged 25. I was a bit sceptical, but he's proved me wrong and then some. The fact he signed for us last season when he could've played at a high level proves it's not about the money for him. Fast becoming a club legend.

A friend and I both independently believed Strasbourg was a lot further south than it actually is, assuming it was like just across from Geneva.

Did France issue an incorrect map ~30 years ago? It's a conspiracy!
at some point in my childhood I convinced myself that Marseille was on the west coast, just below Bordeaux, and no amount of course correcting can apparently convince my brain that it isn't, every single time I see a map of France I get a jump scare out of Marseille not being where it should be

@stephenkb.bsky.social just looking at how much it costs to unfreeze the tax thresholds, I can't see it ever happening... and for when Reeves inevitably freezes them beyond 2027-28 I would like to copyright the headline "Fiscal Drag Queen".

Last season it felt like Ipswich had no right to keep on winning, having just come out of League 1.

This season Sheff U and Burnley look every bit like they've recently played in the Prem, so I'm ready to accept it's going to be playoffs again and relax for the last 6 games.

This is thuggery from Trump and Vance, plain and simple.

They are bullying the brave true patriot Zelensky into accepting a deal which effectively hands victory to Russia. Unless the UK and Europe step up, we are facing a betrayal of Ukraine.

Three years ago today, Putin's tanks rolled into Ukraine, and Russian aircraft began bombing the country.

Trump is lying. Russia started the war, not Ukraine.

Putin is a dictator, not Zelensky.

And once again, a pollster has leader ratings that give Ed Davey the best score... and the text of the social media message doesn't mention it.
For the first time, Nigel Farage is ahead of Keir Starmer by more than the margin of error in our favourability polling

Nigel Farage
Favourable: 30% (+1 from 16-17 Jan)
Unfavourable: 60% (=)

Keir Starmer
Favourable: 26% (-2)
Unfavourable: 66% (+3)
