This is a really, really important story, which is why I provided a gift link. Many people, when they think of higher education, think of elite universities. But most higher education is nonselective (i.e., they admit everyone), and a lot of it is community colleges.

Dear #izfc2025 participants, if anyone of you are interested in how transcription control defines mRNA fate and translation in zebrafish development, there are/will be several PhD and postdoctoral positions (funded by the Wellcome Trust) for this research. Please find me if interested.

We take for granted that our hands have two sides and can articulate in an endless number of ways. But what about a fish’s fin? Can a fish know something “like the back of its fin,” or have its future told with a fin palm reading? Check out this bluetorial to find out 👇🧪🧬🐟 doi.org/10.1101/2025...

I've written a Substack about the #ColossalBioSci #DeExtinction #DisInformation campaign; it's focused on polluting the information landscape, rather than the underlying science (except for species concepts, I talk about them)

I can't even look at that web page without uncontrolled need. Almost bought at 3,500$ guitar for tenure but stopped short of divorce. It is also why I cannot let myself walk into used record stores anymore.

Should we crowd source for our NIH brothers and sisters? Save our fish 2025!!
This means if you use that strain, you should be able to do things like design CRISPR guides and targeting templates without having to resequence the locus looking for variants. Anyway, since I am unlikely to be able to go to any zebrafish meetings, I wanted to share this update with the community.
