People sneer at those who are still on Xitter. I think they must be UK/US-focused so dare I say it a bit parochial. Can I find this kind of really-important -for-my-job info here? Nope. I do follow @gonultol.bsky.social here but it just doesn’t turn up on my feed.

It depends a lot on whether they are allowed to work. I think asylum seekers aren’t allowed(?) so they have no legal way of contributing. For longer term immigrants, whether they are net contributors depends on lots of variables. See this report migrationobservatory.ox.ac.uk/resources/br...

From hot Cyprus, FWIW if you have remote-controlled ceiling fans, everything (working, sleeping, faffing) up to about 34 C is doable. After that you can still use fans only in mornings, as I do, but you will need AC in the afternoons and at night (and for 🏃🏽♀️ and 🎻 practice). #AirCon

Let’s be honest, unless you live in a high-population country both Xitter (where I’ve 5.5k followers) AND BlueSky are finished. One of my best-performing Substack articles: Twitter = 2, Insta I never use = 3, BlueSky: one big zero. The ones you won’t recognise are Russian- + Turkish-speaking sites.

Rookie Q for #DataViz types. What software would you recommend to a 58 year-old with no coding experience, who wants to turn stats like the csv on the left into a table presentation like on the right. I do ~25 tables/charts a month like this. Excel is repetitive + Pivot messes up row sequences 😡

It may be “contribution of stockbuilding”, which is stockbuilding in T, minus same in T-1 divided by GDP in T-1.
