Alberta physicians standing up for patients’ rights to care and physicians’ ethical duty to care 👇

The UCP have gone too far with their government overreach into your healthcare.
@cmadocs.bsky.social and 3 Alberta doctors filed with Alberta Court of King’s Bench for judicial review of Bill 26 known as “gender-care legislation.” Interference in the relationship between doctors and patients through legislation is overreach. www.albertadoctors.org/news/publica...

An historic legal challenge from Canada’s physicians’ association to the Alberta government.

Bill 26 is harmful to gender diverse patients and sets a dangerous precedent of putting politicians in the exam room, overruling patient’s decisions that they have made with their doctors.
While we wish it wasn’t necessary, the Canadian Medical Association has joined three Alberta doctors in filing a constitutional challenge to Alberta’s Bill 26, to protect the relationship between patients, their families and doctors when it comes to making treatment decisions.

Opinion: Does Danielle Smith know we can all see and hear her?
The Alberta Premier’s spectacle of naked self-interest has been broadcast for all to see. Does she think everyone’s too stupid to notice?

A few important reminders about measles:
1. It’s one of the most contagious diseases on the planet and is spread by airborne transmission.
2. Measles lasts in the air for hours after the infected person has left the room.
3. Two doses of the MMR vaccine offer over 95% protection.

Premier talked about paying higher rates so they can pay for the cost of building the CSF
Debate exists if taxpayers should pay for any/all of the infrastructure costs
BUT, consider this: does it make sense to pay for CSFs if Hospital ORs sitting empty?

Worth your time to read if you live in Alberta (and to those outside of Alberta - watch what is happening here as it could easily happen to your healthcare system) 👇
Albertans are slowly waking up to the depths of the scandal enveloping the UCP government.

A lot of folks are wondering how to explain what's going on to people who haven't been tuning in.

Here's the what, so what now what, and what's next of the situation. 🧵

I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again. Until we can start reframing our approach to health as preventative rather than reactive, we are never going to solve our health system failures.

This is critical to remember👇 Skilled HCWs are doing their best in an environment where govt constantly makes the job more difficult.

The Premier has 100,000 Albertans working in AHS, and all she can do is vilify and handcuff it…
