Loving THE VILLA, ONCE BELOVED by Victor Manibo so far! It's got a killer opening that just pull you in completely. It's got these perfect modernized gothic vibes of a young woman being pulled into the curses of a rich family in the Philippines. #ewgc #booksky

TO RIDE A RISING STORM by Moniquill Blackgoose is a fantastic follow up to To Shape a Dragon's Breath, further exploring the alternate North America... with dragons that may alter how Europe's colonial ambitions fare. #ewgc #booksky

I think Anderson's STRANGE ANIMALS will be a great read for folks missing classic, environmentally aware urban fantasies. After Green's death is reversed, he's compelled to live the city for the mountains where he becomes an apprentice "cryptonaturalist" trying to understand mysterious deaths. #ewgc

Ooh. I missed that David Petersen of Mouse Guard is in the next set of panels! YESSSSSS. @kaisel.bsky.social do you remember when you made my mouse hero lose his tail in our game? So cruel! 😂

Peace out, y’all, I’m a millionaire (and I guess a dad now?) so I no longer have to put up with nonsense. 🤣🤣🤣

How fun! Stopped in a Madrid bookstore where I ended up talking with a bookseller about the wonderful @dreugeniacheng.bsky.social and @antonhur.com books they had on display and she when she found out I am a librarian she asked for recent favorites to stock. 😍 #booksky

You begin as an earnest mouse with a sword that rolls into bosses and bounces around off their segments. Doing damage Breakout style. It’s a lot of fun, has a heartwarming type story of trying to discover why the giant beasts are ravaging the land and you gather other animal friends along the way.

Went to a festival in Alcalá with my friends today and it was very much like going to a medieval fair. I had great mead and meats and saw people crafting fun things and just had a lovely time wandering around photographing random things and seeing Cervantes’ house.

Found one of the Bibliometros! (Small libraries in the metro stations) They also have metrotecas, which are little free libraries. And all the train cars seem to have pages of books posted. 😍 Lionel how this city supports reading.

Whoops! Worked right through galleychat! So real quick, I got to enjoy two new Hur translations -- IF WE CANNOT GO AT THE SPEED OF LIGHT and HEART OF THE NHAGA. Both were excellent. One of the stories in that first broke my heart in all the best ways. The latter shows us Korean epic fantasy! #ewgc

Finished Galloway's Gospel last night -- it's a hugely entertaining horror novel that bookends an isolated cult. One storyline shows how annoyed teen doodles of flesh eating pigs become the foundation of a new faith, whereas the other story takes place a decade later as their god approaches #booksky

#bouchercon Day 4 highlights — getting an ARC of the next Cordelia and Ruby book, a fun influencer event, a great paranormal mystery panel, and getting to hear Tracy Clark talk about creating suspense! #booksky #mysterybooks

#bouchercon Day 3: great panels all day! Here are Tom Ryan and Jonathan Maberry. The last thing was an Underrepresented Author reception with this great game where you collected author signatures for bingos. They also had copies of Crime Ink for sale — a great anthology of queer crime fic! #booksky

My favorite panel yesterday was on genre mashups so I guess this can be my genre mashup shirt for the conference. What would we title our owlbear fantasy cozy mystery? Owl’s Bear in Love and War? Owlbear Home for Christmas? The possibilities are endless. #booksky #bouchercon

Day 2 of #bouchercon was very full and ended with Noir at the Bar where a bunch of authors did readings while we drank delicious beer from Crescent City Brewery. #booksky

Seeing a cookbook here reminded me of SOJU PARTY — a cookbook unlike any I’ve seen before. It’s all about Korean drinking culture with great bar and party snacks and cocktail recipes. It also includes ways to show respect, ways to show off, and the why of it all. #ewgc @prhlibrary.bsky.social
