I’m going to #TryMathsLive with this problem from @findthefactors.bsky.social, created using @transum.bsky.social’s Digimoji, which was inspired by my game Digit Disguises.
I found your first puzzle easier to solve than your second puzzle, but I eventually was able to figure it out. I really like these puzzles a lot especially when only 8 or 9 equations are used. Can you solve mine? Digits -4, -3, -2, -1, 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 are disguised.

Hello @davidkbutler.bsky.social - I had the urge to create (yet another) one-player online game/puzzle based on your Digit Disguises game. I have yet to try it out with students though.

Thanks so much for all the sharing you do. Have a great weekend!

I almost always do it sum first now. See this one: bsky.app/profile/davi...
x^2+30x+224

Yes this looks like fun!

20+10=30, 20×10=200 too low but close
21+9=30, 21×9=189 wrong way!
19+11=30, 19×11=209 aha better
18+12=30, 18×12=216 close
17+13=30, 17×13 well that’s not even
16+14=30, 16×14=224 yay!

(x+16)(x+14)

This is a great example of using this method!

If it takes Elmo 1 1/2 minutes to build a snowman and Rocco takes 2 minutes to build a snowman, how fast can they build a snowman if they work together?

MATHS TEACHERS: If you’re seeking ways to add quirky ‘real world’ maths to lessons next year I’ve updated my blog index robeastaway.com/blog/blog-in... .
You can use it to find odd applications of (say) quadratic equations. It’s the sort of thing you might use as a lesson starter (1/3) #TMiP25
