Just finished Clare Mulleys excellent biography of Christine Granville. I knew some of it bt it is a thrilling & ultimately tragic tale. I am very impressed with her patience and the fact she didnt straight up burn the Home Office down after the War. HMG really hasnt changed it seems ! #histbookchat

Not saying Labour shouldn't help the left behind but they aren't going to turn out to Vote. There's use running on "look we made things better for you." If they don't turn out to Vote.

This piece raises some questions. I still don't understand aping Reform and being "hard" if Labour lost most voters to the Lib Dems a pro immigration (and pro EU) party ? Imo it smacks of being scared of the media, and it's easier to be scared and follow rather than get out and make the case for it.

Just finished this. Not entirely sure it's #histbookchat but certainly an interesting and relevant look at why and how America and the West fights wars.

This is a very dangerous strategy. 1) The mini budget caused a melt down because it was borrowing to cut taxes. Borrowing to invest won't cause a melt down because you can model the return. Borrow to build schools/prisons/hospitals etc. How are you going to make improvements without this ?

Less whispering more fog horn please. Labour can't out reform reform, so why not try out Greening the Greens for a change. Imagine a party that borrowed to invest in the Green New Deal. Remember that folks? Timidity is the handmaiden to Authoritarianism.
