I think there is a fundamental tension with full open APIs and information and an increasingly autocratic US as well as LLMs needing training data. Anything you post here can be used by both.

I didn’t mean to single out PIs, I totally understand that salaries and conditions are often outside their control. My gripe is really with the broader system that makes these offers possible and a real option for applicants.

💯 Just saw some offers like “fully funded position with 20–30k € salary in a European capital with a brutal housing market.” I get that this isn’t (only) the PI’s fault - but honestly, that’s more of a trap than a job.
