Hi #EduSky! I’m passionate about using tech to bring history to life, especially the Civil War. I work with K-12 schools to integrate digital tools into social studies, making history more engaging and interactive for students. Let’s connect if you’re interested in tech, history, or education!
At the Battle of Antietam, 23,000 soldiers were killed, wounded or missing after 12hrs of savage combat on September 17, 1862. The Battle ended the Army of Northern Virginia's invasion into the North and led Abraham Lincoln to issue the preliminary Emancipation Proclamation.

Happy Juneteenth! 160 Years ago today, U.S. Major General Gordon Granger issued a series of orders at his newly established headquarters at Galveston, Texas. His third (G.O. No. 3) announced to the public the abolition of slavery based upon the Emancipation Proclamation. #juneteenth #juneteenth2025

May 7, 1863 front page of the Daily Patriot and Union (Harrisburg, Pa) sharing the "Soldier's Song".

Teachers: Share this primary source with students and have them explain the lyrics and then have them try to perform it.

Great "bell ringer' image to show kids, especially today. Students can use SCIM-C or KWL chart to start conversations about what is going on in the image. Great way to integrate primary sources in to the classroom. #edusky

A3: Project ANY image or artwork from history and have students make some inferences. My fav is Washington Crossing the Delaware. Then you can have students write a letter as one of the soldiers, or ask questions like would the sun be coming from that direction or why is Washington posing? #tlap

A4: You can teach the Virginia Reel for Civil War era dances. For acting / performing, I have shown teachers how to do interviews with historic figures. Have one student research a character and then have another interview them. Promotes research, writing and speaking. #tlap
