National unity – as conceived by Big Oil – isn’t what we need. As climate fires rage on, national unity is no excuse for more pipeline insanity. #climate #cdnpoli www.thestar.com/opinion/cont...
Linda McQuaig: As climate induced hell-fires rage across the country, Canada looks to build pipelines — in the name of national unity
Even as the hell-fires rage, forcing tens of thousands to flee their homes, the media barely mentions climate change, presumably due to fear of being accused of destroying the new-found

For anyone feeling helpless with all that is happening, please remember: Every authoritarian regime that rose to power by silencing dissent, banning truth, controlling the population through fear and violence has either collapsed, been overthrown or imploded under its own corruption or paranoia.

Trump and cronies were not hiding their plans for Gaza. Can only assume people thought Israeli leadership would put a lid on that pretty quickly but it seems pretty clear that an elite vacation spot comprised of Trump hotels was in the works all along.

Hey parents. Consider having a CanCon Day each week with the kids.

Watch a Canadian TV series - Amazing Race Canada, Canadian Bake Off, Kim’s Convenience, North of North etc.

Listen to a Canadian radio station in the car (ie 99.9). Point out all the Cdn singers ;

Make it part of the routine.

I worked with non-profits in San Diego for years that rely on federal funding for refugee and veterans support programs. Today will result in a large number of layoffs and increased poverty for already vulnerable people. These groups are crucial in communities, not landlords, not private interests.

The Vulture article exposing Neil Gaiman and Amanda Palmer is surprising only in the gruesome, specific details. There is an emptiness in their art I was never able to name and I think now it is pure ego.

“From ‘F*ck Trudeau’ flags on pick-up trucks to far-right social media influencers harassing the prime minister while vacationing with his children, Trudeau has taken a horrendous amount of abuse.”
Extremists target Trudeau and Canada
The far right is a transnational movement that seeks to destroy liberal democracy by spreading disinformation on social media, smearing democratic leaders, and causing chaos.

If this year taught us anything, it's that:

1) Workers keep America going, not billionaires.
2) Corporate profits don't trickle down to workers.
3) Poverty is a policy choice.
4) Health care is a human right.
5) Strikes work.

I hope we act on these lessons in the new year.

A little piece of knowledge that touched me years ago when I first heard about it: In Japan, people who arrive early to work park further away from the entrance so that those who arrive later can arrive on time.

Our world needs more of this lived compassion. Much, much more.

Every new idea seems to be "how can we destroy the planet by making classic products you like infinitely shittier and at a higher price" and none of them are "what if we just paid people fairly to make the products consumers like" and that's capitalism, baby, and it fucking sucks.

Just a reminder that Elon Musk is not an innovator. He is driven by what has driven centuries of wounded narcissists with the means to achieve their ends, which is always their own acclaim. We are fooled because we see action on good ideas but there is no art or poetry in these shallow waters. #Elon

Of course the ignorant despot would refer to Canada as a state. Better check your history for what happens when the US pushes too hard. #TrumpSucks
