Sustainable travel is my thing. Pedestrians, cycling, public transport. Our Council is extremely car-centric and has poor track record on delivering active travel options. CEC = Cheshire East Council. Green Party Member. Cycling UK local rep.

The footway parking ban in England consultation closed 5 years ago tomorrow. The Tories' inaction is now Labour's inaction.

Tomorrow there's a local by-election in Macc. The Green Party candidate, John Knight, is widely seen as the favourite to win. The previous (Labour) Councillor was convicted of serious offences. We have never had a Green Councillor in Cheshire East. @greenparty.org.uk @zackpolanski.bsky.social

So yesterday morning this was across the drive. 4 hours, six people and three chainsaws and the drive was clear. Exhausting.

So the office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) is to end in 2028. Apparently the total cost of the Cheshire PCC is a little under £1,000,000 per annum and that money will be used for more local Policing. Not sure if that's good or bad overall? @cheshirepcc.bsky.social did reply to emails.

Out of town retail park only really accessible by car. I can't imagine what the problem is....

No chance of CEC moving forward on this while the current people are still there.
Great to see this motion on 20mph in Stockport. In the past few years I've heard some frankly misleading statements from officers on this matter, and there is no acknowledgement that a bit-by-bit approach is less effective and much more expensive.

Follow Manchester's lead.

CEC started consultation about some more active travel provisions along here about 5 years ago. The plans changed at least 3 times. Nothing has been done because it's taken so long that they now can't afford it.

Reduced bike parking at Macc Railway Station. There was a large well used facility. This photo shows the new facility on a Sunday morning. It could easily have been larger.

A walk into town yesterday shows that we could really do with some proper bike parking. CEC still engaged in 5 year study for local bike parking.

Just been assembling a Frog 47 bike. Nice and light. Unfortunately, it's come with the wrong hardware though. Hopefully the correct parts will be here soon.

Bollington Town Council to reassess the provision of free parking. CEC wants to increase the charge. Lots of people saying that free parking actually isn't working and anyway it was rolled up with library provision. No to free parking.
