So do all those journalists and professors get their jobs back too or is it just the millionaire comedian whose cancellation ate into Disney's profits?

Today, the UN officially designated Israel’s assault on Gaza as a genocide.

As a party to the Genocide Convention, the U.S. has a legal obligation to obey our own laws, stop weapons sales to Israel, and demand a permanent ceasefire.

End the genocide. Ceasefire now.

“They did not die from starvation, they had other health problems.”

This is what eugenics sounds like.

The @aaup.org report on AI is so hugely important. Among other key takeaways is the fact that most AI programs have been introduced by administrative fiat and by circumventing meaningful faculty, student, & staff consultation.

Thanks to a generous donation from the Common Humanity Collective, if you need an N95 respirator 😷 in the Napa/Solano region, I am your plug.

Also, if anyone is interested in joining our mask bloc and/or helping me hand them out and/or volunteering during fire evacuations, hit me up!

Today is International ME/CFS Awareness Day. I got my diagnosis last year after attributing my fatigue + other symptoms to my vasculitis for years, when it was ME/CFS too. Now, I'm on meds that means I don't have to work from bed.

Sometimes writing is self-evisceration. Prometheus but his own fingers as eagle.

Other times I open my mouth & ghosts flood in, then words spill out.

LA county just sent out its 3rd incorrect yet county-wide evacuation warning alert.

God forbid new fires emerge in other areas, their repeated mistakes run the risk of people in those areas disregarding this warnings as yet another accident.

This is what I keep telling students: you think AI is producing "good writing" and that it "thinks" because you have not actually learned what good writing and what critical thinking is, and if you want to survive in this hellscape, you have to learn these without AI.
The drum we need to keep beating: if students don't learn how to do things better than AI does, AI will take their jobs. The only way to learn that is *without using AI in the learning process*.

Drove Marin backroads yesterday listening to my dead dad’s favorite music. Hard to imagine for those who haven’t lost, but sometimes one can feel a presence in the passenger’s seat: a coalescence of memory as real as the smell of yerba buena & bay laurel & salty air in redwood fog.
