Somewhere someone is thinking “at last the hacking game from Bioshock can be real!” Very interesting bit of kit at the hart of this and be interesting to see if people expand the idea with more layouts.

Who wants a nice synthwave snare reverb for a send channel? Works great on 100bpm tracks. Spent 5 hours today just fine tuning snares for the next track 🥲

Ordered a portable USB microscope kit (with polarized lens) for PCB rework. Hopefully, this will work well enough. (HDMi trace repair of an XBox Series X PCB)

PSA: Summer activities abound!

That said, please remember water safety! If riding a watercraft, wear appropriately sized life jackets, ensure your vehicles are inspected and in working order, and have a plan in case of an emergency.

Also, drowning people can't yell for help! Be mindful, be safe!

Anyone in or around Santa Rosa to San Francisco (CA) have a used AmScope for PCB rework they'd like to sell?

Guess who gets to repair some HDMI traces this weekend.

Me. It's me.

Wish I had a microscope station, but they cost MONEY.

...Maybe I can save up for an AmScope.

This is the size difference between my current probe (right) and my own wireless design. This would give me quite a bit more Z travel which is nice, plus the benefit of not having to plug in the wire every time. Still needs a lot of testing. I'm also just using a makeshift receiver at the moment.

Finally completed the Spring 2025 semester. It was tough trying to balance family, work, and college. 1 of 3 Physics for Engineers classes complete.

My OWON HDS272S Python API is not nearly as complete as it could be but it's a start. It does the basics.
If users want more functionality, I hope they will submit a PR 🤞

Finally got the Bambu Lab AMS 2 Pro Kit for my X1C printer ... only to learn (a bit too late) that it does NOT support the TPU-85A nor the TPU-90A filament that was sold as an "add-on".

Sigh... guess I'll need to get containers for the TPU rolls. Thankfully, I have gel of silica packets.

Making the same orchid planter, BUT BIGGER-ER.

(first print was at 50% scale, this one is at 90% scale)

The support stuff looks kinda cool, too!
May 11, 2025 at 6:47 AM
Almost done! Wow, the Bambu Lab X1C is printing some kind of support strands horizontally!

Had to redesign and reprint the inner mesh thingy that will hold the wood chips and orchid plant.

Finally got a Thermaltronics solder station, and a desolder station... but it turns out the desolder station I purchased doesn't come with any desoldering tips!

Ordered a few different sizes, bit won't get them this weekend.

Context: I am attempting to desolder the damaged HDMI port on an XBOX X

I really love it when people share their build photos with me. 🙂

Thanks Ulrich!
All the materials for the construction of a #DIYNAFLUOR open-source DNA fluorometer have finally arrived and thanks to the excellent build instructions I could complete the assembly in no time. The first test looks great!

Thanks so much @willaanderson.bsky.social and team! Fantastic work! 👏👌

I need to get over this chronic fatigued state and get back into GPU computing shenanigans. I'd like to keep learning about WebGPU "GPGPU" processing.

Got a Bambu Lab X1C. It's super easy to set up, and feels like a good UX. Printing stuff with ABS this week.

Shown here: Video of the first layer print. Base layer of a "push pop" candy container 3D print using translucent ABS. Although the filament is translucent, the printed layer appears white.
