If thousands of protestors can't stop a coal mine, but a few letters from unknown "concerned residents" can stop a wind park, I don't think Nimbyism is the problem.

It's funny how companies have so much money, they can get a team of artists to put in a huge amount of effort into something that was a dumb idea to begin with.
Going forward, we'll only be seeing more of this.

Reading about the data centers companies are building for "AI" and the resources they will consume. Turns out, the fear of the paperclip optimizer is not unfounded, but the intelligences causing it aren't artificial.

Think one could make "X is Y on HRT" as a replacement of "X is Y on steroids" a thing? I mean, it's already synonymous in at least one context.

Hearing about the government shutdown in the US.
America. The country where people in power go on "strike" to force their constituents to accept worse conditions, instead of the other way around.

A CEO is someone who ties your hands behind your back, demands that you build a chair for him, and then taunts you for every minute that you haven't done so.

I wonder. Will the Discord leak demonstrate to legislators that age verification does more harm than good, or will we have to assume that legislators *want* your data to be public?

I heard people claim kids these days can't read, but my main problem with TikTok is that people put too much fast text over their videos.

Open YouTube
See bullshit in thumbnails on the front page
I think that's enough YouTube for today

CEOs are asking themselves why they should pay an employee if they can just type a prompt into ChatGPT. Not one microsecond did they ask themselves why customers should pay a CEO 70€ to put a prompt into ChatGPT.

There are a lot of things that are impressive in ways only nerds would care about like maybe raytracing.
But I didn't know there were things that are impressive in ways only laypeople would care about until LLMs.

VSCode had a few bugs introduced recently, but it seems they are too distracted with pushing "Copilot" to fix them.

I should sleep. But I like listening to music.
Do you sometimes look at the duration of a song or movie and think to yourself, that's the amount of time it costs me to enjoy it?
Funnily, YouTube videos are free actions. According to my brain.

Now that people are upset about that podcaster having been shot, maybe they are a little more amicable to stricter gun regulations and free mental health care?
Politicians don't let a tragedy go to waste when it suits them either.

I keep coming back to YouTube because occasionally people put some really great works there. But the click-bait and sensationalism is sickening me. I just scrolled to the end of the entire front page and there wasn't a single worthwhile video on it.

Hey, I thought one of the main features of BlueSky is that if their mods turn fascist you can just move to a different server. So where are those servers?

@cametek.bsky.social's song Polybius GB Speedrun is fun, but Full Flavour Ondo sounds a lot more like a speedrun. It quickly switches through musical ideas, each sounding like it could be a full song but isn't.
