this is very high level but helped me a ton and I got a toy example working! I've been wanting to do one of these without relying on D3/Mapbox/etc for ages. thank you so much!

I don’t see a clear split besides sticking to the mainstream (Taylor Swift, The Weeknd, whatever is popular on Spotify etc) and finding a genre you care about, like metal, electronic, rock

maybe I'm an outlier but I take music discovery and listening semi-seriously. no TikTok for me, but I follow some accounts on Instagram that post about records. besides that I like learning about new music through RateYourMusic, playing Music League, some Discord band servers, Facebook groups

DBOS is similar in spirit, I think. has SDKs but it’s a much thinner layer and there’s no central server process

I’m pretty sure it’s at least 10 times that

I think the intent is a bit different. webrecorder doesn't record user interactions, just responses, so you get an archived copy of a website even if it uses JS to fetch content. whereas rrweb seems more of a scenario reproduction thingy

@dazld.bsky.social this might be useful to you

might also be the browser. or the video card. HDCP is hell to get working right
June 20, 2025 at 1:25 PM
it's probably HDCP. if the system (from OS to browser to etc etc) can't be 100% sure your DRM decoding is working it will fall back to a lower quality stream, and that quality will vary by contract. it might be the HDMI cable!
