the web platform is crazy. in 3 days I've discovered 1. there's a gamepad api, 2. line-clamp lets you truncate text containers by amount of lines, 3. you can now animate display: none → display: block through transition-behavior: allow-discrete. all mostly available according to caniuse

@glennmcdonald.bsky.social just finished your book! lots of great stuff. thanks for writing it. really hope you get to work on Fifth Exuberantly Normal Form: The Data Alchemy Rock Opera next, as I'm really interested in reading the 20k word E.F. Codd digression

DuckDB is very cool tech. I ingested my last.fm music listening history into a small table, “attached” a MusicBrainz Postgres database and can do JOINs between them!!!

there isn't an obvious free, nice-looking, correct-aspect-ratio flag library I could find from my google searches but you can get them from twemoji github.com/twitter/twem..., which requires only attribution as per CC-BY 4.0 🎉

added flags to my music collection app!

> The country flags in Unicode are represented as pairs of regional indicator symbols. Each flag is made up of two regional indicator letters, which correspond to the country’s ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 code

ok this is quite clever!
