Still doesn’t fix #shipofharkanian on #windows not seeing it at all, plus #emulationstation and #project64 on #linux still refuse to detect *any* input from the A button and R shoulder so I can’t even try the keybinds, but I’ll celebrate just getting it working with #mupen64 for now.

And, of course, I find the solution immediately after griping about it. This video explained the correct keybinds without confusing my smooth walnut brain.
