Enough said, I've always wanted Little Pet Shop of Horrors to be 70% more gay. The Starving Saints - Caitlin Starling This latest release by a personal favorite is a bizarre medieval horror includes a sapphic triad, bacchanalian cannibalism, and... bees?! Starling is an instant-preorder author for me, and should be for everyone else, too. When the Tides Held the Moon -Venessa Vida Kelley Having just finished When "Brooklyn Was Queer", discovering a beautifully designed and illustrated queer novel about a Nuyorican blacksmith and merman on Coney Island just seemed like kismet. Marsha: The Joy and Defiance of Marsh P. Johnson -Tourmaline Marsha's name has been purged from the Stonewall National Monument's website despite being the most pivotal figure of the riot that led to crucial advancements in the fight for queer rights in the United States. This biography is a long over-due and timely must-read no matter who you are. Atmosphere -Taylor Jenkins Reid Unlike "The Collector's Piece," this book is actually real and coming to bookshelves near you on June 3. P'll be honest, I haven't read anything by her yet, but the sheer fact that someone used Al to make up a fake new release for her when she actually HAS A REAL ONE is enough for this to be an instant addition to my TBR pile. The Potency of Ungovernable Impulses - Malka Older The latest installment of The Investigations of Mossa and Pleiti comes out June 10th. "Sapphic gaslamp sci-fi noir" is quite a mouthful, but it's also most of my favorite things all in a handful of easily portable novellas, and I cannot recommend this series enough.

Hodges, the ruling that established the right to same-sex marriage 10 years ago, was nothing more than a mistake made by an old Supreme Court and correctable by a new one. It doesn't require some imaginative leap into an Orwellian dystopia to conjure an America in which trans people are divided into those who can pass and those who can't, or in which gay people must once again deny their identities in order to hold on to their jobs, apartments or children. Peering into the closet isn't important only as a way of exploring the dark mirror image of the liberatory history of coming out. It's a reminder that the decision to keep one's hand unraised, to remain silent, to say nothing, is just as momentous and reverberant as coming out is, just as likely to change your life and to ripple, with effects that cannot always be anticipated, through the ensuing decades.
