A friend who works in cybersecurity has an entire presentation on how AI is a tool not for productivity but for surveillance. Once you see it, you can’t unsee it.
I think there's a difference between "'AI' being shoved into everything even when it degrades the end product" and "'AI' being part of a varied tool set where it offers material benefit to workflow." We're in the beginning stage of the backlash to the hype era of "AI," which I am very happy about.
Gen ai "is here to stay" is kind of doomery? I feel like progress HAS been made in that it isn't as prevalent as it could be. Pushback has worked in cases.

Tomorrow night in Philly! I'll join a panel at the American Philosophical Society to discuss developmental editing: what it is, when it happens in a manuscript workflow, how to find an editor or a client, and advice for writers and editors. Looking forward to it!

So grateful to @scanlon.house.gov for taking the time to talk us Monday night!
I was glad to join the H-CAN and local leaders for an Immigration Town Hall, where we discussed how the Trump Administration's disastrous immigration policies are impacting our community. Thank you to everyone who attended, raised concerns, and shared their experiences.

In which bad use of AI strikes again.
The moral to this story is that editors and copy editors are still needed. Fucking hire humans.

This was essentially how I got through the more tedious classes in grad school.
Admission time: there are times I write an article almost entirely based on "shit, I came up with a really good headline to go with an article, so I guess I need to write the article."

And now other senators are standing to ask questions (that don't require him to yield the floor) to give him a break. I just called @fetterman.senate.gov to ask him to join them. Call your senators and ask them to join Cory Booker!
Y'all, Cory Booker is doing an old-school, Mr.-Smith filibuster on the Senate floor (14 hours and counting) to amplify the crisis in America right now. It's magnificent. We need more of our elected officials to do something like this.

DEI: Gospel imperative or radical leftwing agenda?

What does the Bible really say about diversity, equity and inclusion? While political leaders label DEI a "radical leftist agenda," Jesus' ministry tells a different story. So why do some Christians reject it, asks Emery J. Cummins?

Hi friends! I had fun talking with Therese Brown of the Association of Catholic Publishers about self-publishing scams and how to spot them. The video is here. Enjoy!

Folks, I'm personally in "godfuckingdamnit" mode right now so I'm certainly not going to tell people to keep their chins up or to keep fighting or whatever. Later that's going to be a thing. But today and for a bit after I'm going to feel all my bad feelings.
