This type of marketing can be particularly harmful when it comes to addictive products like alcohol.

When people experiencing alcohol dependence or gambling addiction want to seek support, it can undermine their efforts to get well.

Measures including a two-hour safety pause, a 10am-10pm delivery window and making community health and safety the top priority of alcohol laws will make a tangible difference in Victoria.

These were encouraging conversations, and we're excited at the opportunity to progress these talks further.

There were 1,765 Australians who died because of alcohol in 2024, each of them someone's child, parent, partner or friend.

We're calling on federal, state and territory governments to spring into action after new Australian Bureau of Statistics data showed that alcohol-induced deaths in Australia are increasing.

Kym said these changes would make a real difference to many people experiencing family and domestic violence.

"There are lots of different contributing factors that fan the flames of family violence. Alcohol is one of the most prevalent fans we have an opportunity right now to turn down," she said.

This report contains a powerful call to action for leaders across the country to do more to empower young boys and men to reject traditional masculine norms, to help reduce domestic and family violence, mental ill-health and other harms.

Today, a new Australian study of teenagers' attitudes has found the more strongly teenage boys hold rigid views about masculinity, the more likely they are to have consumed alcohol within the last 12 months.

These changes were first proposed a year ago and were recommended by a South Australian Royal Commission to be progressed ‘immediately’. Every day these laws are delayed puts women and children at greater risk of harm.

Alcohol can also influence hormone levels and increase the body's absorption of other carcinogenic substances, which all increase the risk of breast cancer.

You can reduce your risk of breast and other cancers by cutting back or cutting our alcohol.

That's because alcohol is a carcinogen, a cancer-causing substance.

When alcohol is broken down in the body, a toxic by-product called acetaldehyde is created, which can damage DNA.
