it was such a no-brainer. the voters in my family all went "duh, of course this is a yes!" (we discuss our stances and weigh each other's opinions before a vote) without even a moment's hesitation. and we unschool, so our remaining school-aged kid doesn't even benefit from this. it's that important

Substack is doing what twitter did except they’re using progressive writers to do it and a lot of the writers don’t know or can’t do anything about it because the media landscape is so fucked and they need to eat.

I highly recommend people check out ghost.org, even if they don't have a newsletter or website themselves, so they can understand available alternatives, and the decisions content makers are making when they choose a platform. Ghost is nonprofit, and the platform is open-source.
