The local food banks in northern Michigan get (or used to get) these shipments. The Lions Club I am part of, would volunteer to help unload the truck.

There are a significant number of locals up here that need it and voted for this administration that is now hurting them and others.

Not complaining, but this afternoon is going by at a glacial pace.

Yesterday went by so fast.

Back in HighSchool, I joked about Canada being our 51st state, but I was like 14. I also was playing a lot of Car Wars then, so I envisioned it would happen as part of like a post-apocalyptic need for us to come together.

All this rhetoric of it being our 51st state is insane.

When describing myself I prefer "Generalist", as I am capable of marketing, sales, product management, project management, support, account management, software development, engineering management.

In the Software Development context, I would be Full-Stack.

But I do prefer the DevOps stuff.

Finally a branch of government standing up for itself.

Of course that appeals process eventually can end up at the Supreme Court and thus far they very likely will side with the President, unless of course the need for self-preservation kicks in.

Now the legislature needs to wake the fsck up.

I got laid off today, with the rest of 18F.

18F was an elite federal software shop. We made gov't websites work better, more efficiently for the American people. We saved taxpayers from getting screwed over by contractors. And were fired for it.

We made this website to tell our story:
18f.org
We're not done yet | 18F

"... take off like a rocket ship."

I keep hearing a clip of 47 saying that about America.

Well given the last two Starship launches, I am feeling that it's probably an accurate statement.

Like a SpaceX rocket ship, up, up and oops.

Fun with timezones.

Troubleshooting an errant timezone error with multiple vendors, some of which are direct partners, others are not. But there is a common transactional network in place.

Example:
3/1/2025 - 7:15pm EST - 3/2/2025 00:15am UTC

Shows up downstream as 3/2/2025 (eg UTC)

Because of times we are living in, I’ve opted for a bit of an ostrich effect. I’ve been rewatching 30 Rock, and S7 E2, cover how the comedy skits about a candidate made home more likable.

I’ve felt that SNL did a disservice during 2016 with Trump skits. But they were funny.

Someone put out a call for help with a picture of a Blue Screen of Death, clearly says windows.

Someone replied and asked "I work on computers what operating system do you have?"

They likely had meant to ask "what version of windows?"

But my immediate response was "It's clearly windows."

A client sent me a text for the auth credentials of a network switch. It didn't make sense, so I called them to find out more.

A sub-customer that we've been managing gear for, is moving their gear. So talked with the sub-customer and worked out what they need to do.

The more you know...

My son wanted to start a YouTube channel, so we hit the store and got some gear.

OBS Studio is a neat piece of software for creating videos like these.

So an Executive Order issued on 1/22 that order Federal Agencies to pause funding, it has directly resulted in a neighbor of mine losing their job. They work for a ISP that is part of an electric company. That company is bringing Fiber to rural areas.

Like SUPER CHEAP fiber in a very MAGA area.

The idea floated of giving back money to the people from "savings" that the administration "finds", I find it EXTREMELY laughable.

$5k check would mean $3.845T in total savings. So how can they do that (and also do their $4.5T tax cut).

Reminds me of HBO's Rome, distracting the mob.

When doing vendor review.

And you run into a problem, be careful how you convey that problem.

Else you run the issue of telling them that their baby is ugly.

They will try to defend their ugly baby, a lot.

Still no Receipts.

I mean, if you're having an issue producing something real that fits, just make it up. Doesn't normally stop y'all anyway.

The last couple of winters wet cold, but overall mild.

Mother Nature has decided to make up for lost time.

I finally got the cheque that was "in the mail".

It got to Texas right after I flew out, so it was thrown into an Express package (USPS), where it lingered in Austin for DAYS. Then when they tried to deliver it on Saturday, we were not home.

Yesterday I retrieved, Today I drove to a CU to deposit.

I've had a Starlink dish for a bit now. I use it as backup Internet. But that has been rare and given recent events, I am going to just hope Spectrum stays up and running.

Cancelled my service just now.
