i think the "fash" part of "fascinating" might be catching her attention

it dead ass feels like a cycle like deadly as fuck condition ravages through people -> developments in medical field make it less terrible -> nut jobs and evil fuckers with an agenda create doubt and negationism around it -> repeat

feels like stark symptoms of anti-science and anti-intellectualism

my relationship with video games completely changed for the better after it. i was struggling to find patience to play games, often just doom scrolling

now i can spend 20h in need for speed underground 2 like i'm 13 again, it's so cool

getting the dock to play on TV was the cherry on top too

nice! saved that for lunch tomorrow :)

the game's really intuitive! in conventions we have all kinds of people try it out, from kids to parents. i'm sure you'll do just fine!

sent you a DM! 😊

you got yourself a sub! :)

if you're ever interested in giving amazingly drawn characters a non-silly (or silly, you can choose) voice, shoot me a DM! i can fix you a key

game's been on steam graveyard for a couple months now, but we always love to see new people play

oh yeah, for sure. if not for passionate fans, we'd never have Mother 3. i guess my point is how much it shifted in terms of expectation. i see people demanding voice acting and localization even from solo devs, which is crazy
November 12, 2025 at 5:21 PM
i mean i'm not sure doing silly voices to cover the lack of official VA counts as voice acting, but i understand the appeal 😆

i do love myself some amateur voice acting for that, OneShortEye's videos are a great example of how amazing that can be

for livestreams, all one person, can be very taxing

while i do believe that to e true, i also think it really has intensified. the difference in expectations for localization and voice work in my 2 previous games is really stark

even in conventions, we got people saying "the game has much text, why not AI voice acting? there's AI now"
November 12, 2025 at 5:14 PM
i find it charming as well, but i do have many streamer friends that prefer to not stream those kinds of games because of how tiring it is and how it loses viewers

it's very sad imo
November 12, 2025 at 5:08 PM
but many games today don't even get the chance to get to Slay the Spire's size, because there are many expectations of game length, localization, voice acting, etc etc

all these expectations come from a public that has been poisoned by the AI machine and think those things are easy

99% of indie games see the world and die within a month and operate at total loss

when i released my first indie game with my friend, our total budged was $200. that's all we had as college students, and it went all into art

the game has like 50 total reviews and barely paid for itself
November 12, 2025 at 5:07 PM
and now we're getting negative reviews due to missing languages on a game that barely has 500 all time reviews, let alone a fan base dedicated enough to translate things
November 12, 2025 at 5:07 PM
for sure! this works wonders when you launch a game that reaches that level of popularity. it's how Slay the Spire did it, and i'm all for it

but 99% of indie games are passion projects that will never reach that level of fanbase
