Fair, they/them. 35. Mostly horror movies and pictures of cats.
I think if someone would be upset if a stranger wrote a detailed letter to Penthouse about them based on information gleaned from observing them in public and tracking their online activity, they have no business writing rpf. No one has ever been able to explain to me what makes it any different.

Absolutely. I think there's a major disconnect where people, both audience and participants, don't fully grasp the reality of any contact sport, even something like football. Because it's for entertainment, they think of it as a performance where the danger is controlled.

Then you'll get away with just a concussion and some pulsatile tinnitus, maybe a bruised rib.

This is if you're a nice guy. But nice guys usually don't think being moderately internet famous somehow qualifies them as proficient at boxing. Just sayin'.

If you don't know what you're doing, you're not going to just take a loss and learn a lesson for next time. You're going to have your jaw broken, your organs crushed, brain injuries, internal bleeding. Maybe if you're a really nice guy, the professional will take it easy on you.

People think of boxing like it's pro wrestling. Pro wrestling is highly athletic, and there is the potential for injury, but the goal is to put on a show without anyone getting badly hurt. Boxing is a blood sport. It's a fight to the death that just happens to USUALLY stop short of actual death.

If you want to know how watching this makes me feel, picture me hoisting a boombox above my head and blasting LL Cool J's "Mama Said Knock You Out" at 110 decibels

"We don't want to be Luddites --" brother, Luddites were opposed to bosses concentrating wealth by using technology to make inferior product with warehouses fulls of starving exploited child labor. You don't have to wear the team jersey but respect the game.

I know you're not going to automatically know the backstory of everyone who comes across your feed, but you should look into some of the work Sheryl does.

OP defends people from abusive landlords on a pro bono or pay-what-you-can-afford basis. She's not an elitist, and she doesn't share anecdotes like this because she thinks they're funny, but to highlight problems with the legal system, i.e. widespread public ignorance of the law
