it's not problematic or anything, it makes sense in-genre, but also i still crack up a little bit imagining noble long-suffering margit also being sort of a weird cranky racist, jumping around going "foul japanese...in search of the imperial regalia..."

it's really such a banger, sells the mood and tone, introduces you with really strong characterization!

i also think the line "foul tarnished..." is super funny if you step out of genre for a sec, cos the tarnished are kinda like an athnic group in-game? "foul briton...in search of buckingham..."

for monster hunter wilds, i think it's because the story basically amounts to the tutorial for the game (the "main game" is mostly meant to be unstructured multiplayer stuff on loop), so they wanted there to be a culmination for that (i.e. credits), but there's more game afterwards?
