How much meta can this movie be, I guess not enough. The number of layers upon layers that this film works on is unbelievable. Must have inspired Seth Rogen in some way in thier treatment for The Studio.
The Player (1992) is A true Altman Classic.

Throwdown (2004) was Pure, blissful cinema. If the story doesnt touch you, the cinematography will or the music will. Its such good filmmaking. Johnnie To shoots every scene with such precision that it almost gets under your skin, so rare to see these choices taken for screen these days.

PARADISE is another great thriller i saw this week... It's more heartfelt than most in its genre...
Also i get why they can't market it like they should without spoiling the insane ending to the first episode...
I am surprised, didn't think that the creator of "This Is Us" had this inside of him.

The most important thing in writing is to finish. A finished thing can be fixed. A finished thing can be published. A finished thing can be made into a movie.

An unfinished thing is just a dream. And dreams fade if you don't hold on tight enough.

So finish the thing.

Hoof...The day of the Jackal, What a show. It's been a while since i have binged something this hard. One of the best made for TV thrillers of last few years. Redmayne was revelation, as was Lashana Lynch. I can't emphasize enough how edge of this seat it became towards the end.

One of the best cop drama ever. What HIGH NOON achieves in less than 90 mins is breathtaking. A great western.
After watching Once Upon a Time in West so many times i can spot Jack Elam easily, he and Lee Van Cleef were so young in this but they still had that typical leone face.

I don't know how Taylor Sheridan does it but LANDMAN was just great. Though I will say, this would be exactly the kind of divisive thing Sandeep Reddy Vanga makes, thought the targets here are climate activists. But he somehow always reanimates the old west in its purer form.

The Count of Monte Cristo is The Real FAIRY TALE for adults. Certainly the best adaptation of the book and one of the best period adventures of the year. This story had everything, almost EPIC. Should have watched in theatres. 2nd good Alexandre Dumas adaptation in the last few years.

The Remarkable Life of Ibelin (2024) was just pure love, Isn't this what documentaries were made for. I would have loved to play World of Warcraft with Mats. One the best Netflix documentaries whole year.

How to make millions before grandma dies (2024) is Second tearjerker of the month as i saw Meiyazhagan last week. This broke my heart crushed it smother it with its simplicity. This deserves every accolade its getting, so universal yet so culturally rooted. The femal actor that played grandma;

So much love for cinema is poured into Rifle Club. Syam Pushkaran never disappoints. A joy ride, a cracker, if not anything it's stylish as hell. Anurag Kashyap is having a blast of a year. It's the The hunt, The most dangerous game, Bacurau in ONE. A rare western from India.

MARCO is definitely a flawed film, but what it highlights is the nature of violence needed today to make the audience feel even a little. Well it definitely made me feel something, like how far we have come from the family massacre scene in Once Upon a Time in West or from Sholay for that matter.

It wasn't even half way and MEIYAZHAGAN was already my favourite film of the year. I connected with everything it offered, cried a little. Prem Kumar has surpassed all my expectations.
