Wrote a draft of the synopsis for my pitch package, so great, that's progress, but also it's 685 words, which is too long. But summarising the plot of a 135K-word manuscript in 500 is a challenge.

Have I just written 1.2K words of a new story (which must be a novel, nothing else makes sense), because I could get myself to write nothing else? Maybe. But I haven't even made it a proper separate file or project, so it doesn't count as a new WIP, does it?

As I inch closer to entering the query trenches, I ask myself: what is worse, giving myself a heart attack when/if I get any responses (or worse: calls!) from agents, or driving myself insane by having to market my book if I self-publish? 🫣

I'm tempted to have a look at the novel I drafted the first time I did NaNo, back in 2015. It's some 80K in total, YA urban fantasy that I intended to be the first in a trilogy. I wonder if it could be salvaged if I tried... Probably not, but I wonder.
