This week saw the first proper voyage of our brand new ship!

It’s been great seeing our efficiency measures in operation (finally!), but it also allows us to do something else -

We started digital twin simulations of these voyages, and their actual wind conditions, for our upcoming rotorsails!

Hello Bluesky 👋👋👋👋🐙👋👋👋👋

A lot of customers have asked us to swim our way over here, so we're dipping our tentacles in.

Give us a follow, we'll be floating around to chat all things green & geeky, make energy fairer, and own up to van printing disasters:

Solid-state heat pumps seem very neat but I didn't know any were near commercial viability yet

Nine new satellites detecting methane just arrived in space. Finding (and then punishing) methane leakers is one of the fastest ways to reduce global warming.

Wow! The new Renault 5 EV has a starting price of £22,995 for the 40kWh version and £26,995 for the 52kWh version - with a range of 248 miles.

We’re starting to see some really attractively priced new EVs.

I work in decarbonising shipping for a UK ship owner, making our existing fleet more efficient as well as investing in new ships with new technologies and fuels.

Who knew that ships could use sails to harness wind energy (apart from thousands of years of seafarers) 🤓
In my first few days back at work, we had our first (for our team) ‘speed trial’ for a ship following its drydock where we had recommended ~$500k of efficiency measures.

This trial is a series of controlled runs at different speeds, in an attempt to establish how the ship is performing.

"Why are electricity prices so high if renewables break generation records and are so cheap?" I have been asked.

The main reason: Gas still sets the price 63% of the time in wholesale electricity markets in EU27 & >90% in some countries.

The graphic is from the Draghi Report.
