The anguish of death is a luxury that is felt far more by the idler than by the worker, who is stifled by his own occupation.

Context is everything, when the sheriff said, “Democrats enjoy -deeply- chopping up babies and selling their body parts” he means that in terms of serving all of his community in the most professional, unbiased way.

I simply tell my children to never, never, never ride a bike on a city street because they may be killed.
I still think bike buses do more harm than good because of how they reinforce stereotypes about biking being an elite activity. In communities like the Seattle neighborhood I live in with big wealth and racial disparities it's only kids...

Love will save you from the truth when you think you're free

Love will save you from the cold light of boring reality

Love will save you from the corruption of your lazy-minded soul

And love will save you from your selfish and distorted goals

It's shocking to me how unserious Tacoma Public Schools administrators are about education.

my father-in-law is a “I know a guy” Guy. sadly all the old Guys are aging out of the Guy Economy. Guys are fundamentally incompatible with Hustle Culture because it’s not about “winning” a deal, it’s about collecting favors and goodwill in a mutually-beneficial cycle. protect your local Guy Economy

We need to stop using a framework of 'ChatGPT killed someone', it feeds into the myth of the system's agency & OpenAI's framing. The right framework to use: OpenAI is continuing to perpetuate an indefinite industrial disaster. The oil pipe is not at fault when it breaks. The company that built it is

Many people, including me, hoped that if enough people where vaccinated community transfer of COVID-19 would stop.

That is a big part of the justification for vaccine mandates and punitive consequences for those who refused vaccination.
... when it fact it only reduced risk by 90% or some such.

Now, let's just stop & think about that. Does that sound plausible to you? Some unspecified people slightly exaggerated the efficacy of the vaccine, thus millions of right-wingers decided it was an elite plot to control them?

I'm unwilling to vote for any national candidate who isn't willing to use federal forces to bring to heel Spanish Springs and Sumter landing.

Floridian voting rights shall only be restored for voters who can correctly recite the 14th amendment.

Today is an important day. The day that a modern social safety net began to take shape. The SSA created OASI, the AFDC (ADC at the time), and the earliest form of our UI system. The SSA wasn't perfect. Its programs directly and indirectly excluded African Americans at first...

We've turned on the doomsdays machine.

Instead of saying, "ohh shit!" And turning it off. We're going to let 'er rip. And launch a few humans towards Mars to die in the vacuum of space.

Black cloaked ghouls.
Justice Sotomayor suggests—implausibly—that justices somehow have a vested property interest in their office. Yet another reason why relying on judges to be reformers is an absolute disaster.

We hosted a national night out block party. Anders and Patty Jackson turned up. Like, I've got the next mayor and chief of police shaking people's hands in my front yard. Tacoma is a small town.
Weird to think I'm going to be a Mayor's Ex Wife. But, hey, I'm an amazing ex wife.

We had a choice between a candidate who would do nothing to stop genocide and another who would do nothing to stop genocide and cut a trillion dollars from Medicaid.

Folks come on here to attack people who voted to not cut a trillion dollars from Medicaid look like fools and embarrass the left.
This is what you have to say when you’re a piece of shit who will gladly vote for the people doing a genocide.

In terms of harming children, compared to cutting a trillion dollars from Medicaid and banning abortion the Epstein stuff seems smol bean.
